Final Project

My project: Bacon & Eggs

I love to have bacon and eggs for my breakfast. The reason is they taste so good and they have the nutrition that human needed. Plus, i do not have to spend a long time to prepare, just around 10 minutes. Then, i can get a delicious and wonderful breakfast.

Methods to cook:
How i cooked this breakfast? The first step is i reheat the pan and put some oil on it. At the same time, i put the eggs into a bowl and mix it. After that, i put the eggs into the pan and fried it. When i cooked, i will add some pepper and ketchup. After 3-4 minutes, i took it out and put it onto a plate. Then, i put some oil in the pan again and this time i fried the bacon. Bacon needs more time to cook so i used around 6-7 minutes. If you like to eat more crispy, then you need to take a longer time to cook it.

Moreover, i will have grapefruit for my breakfast too. There is two ways: make it become a cup of juice or just cut it and eat it.






Where did i buy it? I bought this food from the supermarket which called stop & shop. Inside there, i could find all the food that i needed. The bacon, eggs, also the grapefruit. Plus, they are not expensive at all.

Furthermore, this breakfast is suitable for my schedule. It is because every time either i go to school or go to work, i always so rush and do not have much time left. But, the time that i need to prepare this breakfast is only 10 minutes. So, i able to cook it and finish it before i leave my house. However, i always just have the breakfast by myself, because almost every morning when i wake up, two little cousins go to sch and my aunt goes to work already. Therefore,there is no one at home and having breakfast with me.

The New Industrial Migrants

            According to the passage new industrial migrants (Part I), it is talking about the immigrants and the employment within the industries. Many of the people which are from Mexico, Central America, and Southeast Asia started to immigrate to rural Colorado and some of them were hired and worked in the slaughterhouse. In this passage, it also talks about the hiring process. In 1980s, more than five thousand people were employed during one eighteen-month period. But every three months, the average worker quit or was fired. Moreover, the passage talks about the turnover rate is keep on increasing. The reason is the companies wanted to keep their insurance cost low. It is because the health insurance is now offered to workers after six months on the job. Therefore, if the workers quit or be fired in three months, then the companies do not need to pay the insurance fee. Furthermore, the other reason high turnover rate can help maintain a workforce within an industry. For instance, in the meat packing industry, it can control their employees easily and avoid them to unionize.

            According to the passage new industrial migrants (part II), it is talking about what IBP will do when they recruit migrant labor.The company used to employ the refugees, asylum-seekers and homeless people. IBP will hired buses to drive them and promised the workers that they will have steady work and housing. However, problems started to appear. The Immigration and Naturalization Service said that about one-quarter of all immigrants are illegal, but IBP just deny it. Also, IBP and GFI America wanted to employ as more as workers to work for them with paying less money. Therefore, the company used the homeless shelter to be their housing and just give the workers some burgers. Finally, this plan was failed. Many new recruits were angry and refused to stay at the shelter. At the same time, the advocates for the homeless were wrathful because they misuse the homeless shelter. Last but not least, the passage also points out there are some problems that brought by the immigrants. For instance, more crime because of the drug problems.

            In my opinion, the companies which are recruited migrant labors should respect them and give the workers the basic benefits. It is because they are same as the American citizens and they are doing the same things when they work. According to the two passages, we can know that most of the companies will just use any methods to make themselves earn more. For instance, they will promise the workers to have a stable work and housing, but after that the company just use the homeless shelter to be their home. Also, they will fire the workers every 3 months, so they do not need to pay the insurance fee instead to keep its insurance costs low. However, even the workers are not well educated, they will still work hard and do what they need to do. Therefore, the companies cannot treat them as a kid and lie to them. Company should benefit all of the workers no matter where they come from.

CAT 3

              According to the passage "Let Them Eat Fat", Greg Crister points out that how do the fast food  companies make themselves keep on growing up and the effects that bring by fast food. He says that everyone knows fast food is a bad thing for health, but what is the reason that the fast food companies still can be so successful? It is because they know who and where should be their target, For instance, the poor inner-city communities are the fast food companies' target places and the workers and the teenagers are their target customers. Furthermore, Greg Critser demonstrates that the fast food is far more important for the communties nowadays, so the companies keep on innovating and "supersizing" is appeared. However, we should recognize that the trend of fast food companies keep on incresing is good for the business and our economy, it is toxic for people because it will cause a lot of health problems on them.

             First of all, by using the passage "The total caloric content of the meal has been jacked up from 680 calories to more than 1340 calories," we can know that how much calories that we will receive when we eat a surprize meal. It is always much more than we need. Also, because of the calories added, people always contain a lot of fat and carbohydrate which is not good for health, but out of protein that which should be contain most in our body. As a result, people will have disease easily. For example, one of my friends, she eats fast food almost everyday, so her body contains too much fat that makes her not only over-weight, but also has a heart disease.

            Morever, people always have excues for themselves to eat fast food, just like fast food is convenient and cheap, so easy to get and quick, etc. But, do people should think about the effects that will be bring by eating fast food? The answer is yes! Everyone should concern this problem. It is because the fast food companies do not care about people health, what they will concern is only the profit. They use any methods to attract people to spend money on buying their food, for example"super-size your meal!" or "supersize is free!" which are from the passage. Therefore, we need to pay more afford on caring our health by ourselves.

             In conclusion, from the passage, we clearly know that the reason of fast food become indispensable is related to our need on them. Therefore, the only way to stop them is we should stop eating fast food immediately. Do not let the fast food companies "make us eat fat".

Happy Meals

            The first one "Don't eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn't recognize as food", i think it is almost impossible for me to do. It is because there is a lot of new product of food coming out nowadays. Also, maybe there is only a few types of food that my great-grandmother can recognize. Therefore, if i just eat something that only my great-grandmother can recognize, it will be not enough for me and i never have chance to try the new food which is so delicious and maybe full of nutrition.

          The second one "Avoid food products containing ingredients that are a) unfamiliar, b) unpronounceable, c) more than five in number or that include d) high-fructose corn syrup, i think it is possible for me and my family to do. It is because the food which is contain those ingredients maybe are not good for our health. For instance, the food product which is unfamiliar may harmful to is that w do not know. Also, the food which is contain high-fructose corn syrup is bad for our health. So, we know that these types of food are not good, that's why it is possible for us to stop eating them.

         The third one "Avoid food products that make health claims", i think is do-able for me to do. It is because somehow when the food product promoted that it may make your health claim is not true. We never can sure that the food really have this function. Also, this type of food maybe turned out to give people negative effects, for example, heart attack.

          The forth one "Shop on the peripheries of the supermarket and stay out of the middle", i think this is very hard foe me and my family to do. It is because every time when we go to supermarket, we must walk through all the places. Sometimes we do know what we want to buy, that's why we need to walk line by line to look through all of them. Therefore, we cannot just shop around the peripheries of it.

         The fifth one "Get out of the supermarket whenever possible", i think it is almost impossible for me and my family to do. It is because when we need to buy some food, we will just go straight to the supermarket which is near around us. That's why it is difficult to us to get out of it.

         The sixth one "Eat mostly plants, especially leaves", i think this is possible for me and my family to do it. It is because all of us know that vegetables are good for our health. Also, we know that it is one type of food that we cannot miss for our nutrition.

         The seventh one "pay more, eat less", i think it is do able for me to do it. It is because i understand that if i want some food which has more nutritional quality, i need to spend more money on those food. Even the food which is with more care is more expensive, it is worth because it is good for our health.

         The eighth one "Cook. If you can, plant a garden. Eat complete meals, at a table, if possible not alone", i think this is hard for me and my family to do. It is because today most of the people just demand on the food which is cheap, quick and fast. Furthermore, the members in our family are busy and our time always cannot match each other. All of us have our own things to do. Even we can complete meal at a table, we also eat so fast. Therefore, this one is not easy for us to do.

Manufactured Damand

             The myth: the bottle water is more convenient is talking about is it real that the water which is coming from our kitchen tap is not convenient against the bottle water.  From the passage, it states that the reason of why people will think that bottle water is more handiness is because of "disposability". After they finish the water, they can just throw away the bottle and do not need to carry it anymore. Thats why most of them prefer to buy bottle water than use reusable bottle. Also, people just think about themselves, just care what benefits they can get, but they never concern about the consequence. "There is nothing convenient about shipping water thousands of miles from its source, or all the waste and other
costs associated with needless production and disposal of plastics" which is from the passage is clearly showed that the effects which are brought by drinking the bottle water instead of drinking the kitchen tap water. As a result, we can figure out that there is no advantage for drinking the bottle water. It will just mess-up our world, destroy our planet and polluted our environment. Therefore, from now on, we should change our habit and stop drinking bottle water.

               To help debunk this myth further, i will use reusable bottle instead of the unusable one. Also, i will ask my family and my friends to do so. Furthermore, i may promote the advantages to the others of using reusable bottle. For instance, we can save more money, decrease the pollutants that bring by the plastic bottles, and we can drink hot water by using some of the reusable bottles which are made by metal.

Imitation of Film

             According to the passage, "Imitation of Film: Here's Smoking at You, Kid", Nicholas Balakar states that more and more children the age who are between 10 to 14 start smoking is because the imitation of film. Researchers demonstrated that 38% of children who started to smoke was after they have seen their favorite actors smoked in the film. Nicholas Balakar also points out that "Kids begin to view R-rated movies which contain twice as much smoking at about fourth or fifth grade." That means kids have been affected by these types of movies when they are so young. Furthemore, she says that children who have the greatest exposure to smoke in movies is also one of the reasons that why they start to smoke. Nicholas Balakar also uses the researches to prove that the problem of the youngest's smoke is become much more serious and she suggests that the society need to pay attention on it.

            Today, one of the technologies that the children will be always connected is television. When they go home after school, the first thing that they will do is to turn on the TV. This is the reason why the films which are shown in the television can have a critical effect on youngest. From the passage,"children ages 10 to 14 are much more likely to take up smoking if they have seen actors smoke in the movies", this had proved that how easy for the movies to affect the childish mind and attitudes. For instance, my two cousins who i am living with, they always learn the way that the actors speak. Even the way they speak is rude, also sometimes include the "bad words" that they should not be learned, they still think themselves are so "cool" and keep on saying it. Therefore, we can recognize the actors who are acting in the movies will become a model for the young child to imitate.

            Moreover, children who are so young are the most easily affected. It is because they cannot determine what is good and what is bad. They will just learn directly what they have seen and without thinking of the effects that will bring to them. By using the passage's research, "Our studies show that kids begin to view R-rated movies at about fourth or fifth grade", this shows that because they are not old enough and without ability to make decisions by themselves.

             In conclusion, the effects of imitation of film can be so solemn for the kids. Not only the problem of smoking, but also some other problems like robbing, violence, etc. So, we need to pay attention for those harmfulness. Otherwise, the young kids will be so dangerous.

The Meatrix Issues

             According to The Meatrix website "Food Safety", we can know that the safety of the food is extremely important to us. It is because food will affect our health directly. That means our health is totally determine on what we eat. Also, a lot of people suffer from food poisoning and the cause of this is because we disregard the importance of the food safety. So, we need to pay attention and care about the safety of food.

             From the passage, it says that "76 million Americans suffer from food poisoning each year. 325,000 people are hospitalized for food related illnesses and 5,200 die in that same time period." By using these researches, we can know that there is a huge number of people affected by food. Furthermore, where the diseases and infections come from? Most of them are cause by bacteria, viruses and parasites that can be transmitted through the food that we eat. Other illnesses are the result of poisonings from harmful toxins or chemicals. This proved that those problems appeared were because people have a big blunder on the process of the food production. There is only a few corporations to control the food production process, and because of competitions, most of the companies just want to gain the maximum profits and will push the limits on safe food production.

            Not only the side of production, importation is also one of the reasons. Referring to the passage, we know that food safety issues are not limited to meat. "In 2003, the largest recorded outbreak of Hepatitis A was traced back to green onions in Chi-chi's salsa. Over 600 people in the Pittsburgh area were sickened in the outbreak." On the other hand, this shows that people also have a lapse on the food importation. They do not check carefully when they import food from the other countries.

             In conclusion, we must find ways to protect our food. Corporations need to care about the quality of food, but not only the quantity. Also, we have to minimize the risk of the food production process. Last but not least, if we neglect the food safety, everyone's life will be threaten.

The Meatrix Summary

1. According to the Meatrix I, it states that people do not know the truth about the food that they eat and they do not care about where is the food come from and what the making process is. Moreover, it points out that in the mid 20th century, the business companies just focus on how they can earn the maximum profits. That's the reason why factory farming is created. Furthermore, the Meatrix I says that there are a lot of negative effects that come from factory farming. For instance, the pollution will be polluted, animal crufity, the communities are destroyed, etc. Therefore, one of the important messages from Metrix I is people need to concern about the problems bring by factory farming and do not support them anymore.

2. According to the Meatrix II: Revolting, it states that what the people see is not real, people need to look through the fact. It shows us the process that how they do to the animals, they will overuse the antibiotic and add artificial hormones when they feed the animals. Also, it will cause mad cow disease. Moreover, the Meatrix II points out that the ways they feed the animals are not healthy and incorrect. Therefore, people need to find ways to stop it and do not let it to be continued anymore.

3. According to the Meatrix II 1/2, it states that the business companies only care is about the production and their profits. They never care about the others, just like the workers who work for them and the people's health. For instance, even they know that the workers are working in a dangerous working condition, they still do not care. Therefore, it points out that the factory farming should be disappeared and we should protect the substainable family farm.

People want to know

             Humans follow John Stuart Mill's idea of preferring to lead a conscious life and know the truth rather than live in ignorance and just carry on their lives without asking questions is true. In the world, if people just choose to live under the truth, then their life will be meaningless and there is no reason for them to alive.

             According to the film "The Matrix", Neo had chose to take the red pill and find out what is real. At the beginning of the film, he just always want to back to his normal life and make it more simple, because he did not believe that he was one of the matrix. But finally, even he did not know what will happen in his coming life if he took the red pill, he still choose to find out what he wanted to know. Also the story "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", the little girl who called Alice elected to follow the white rabbit and saw what will going on behind the hole. These can prove that whatever is young children or adult, they still want to know.

             Furthermore, referring to the passage "Red Pill or Blue Pill", the author points out that the film "Matrix" had raised a question: Why do we want to know the truth? It is because we are a human being and we have the desire of what the truth is. For instance, why people go to school and get educated? The reason for them is not only to learn more and have better knowledge for their better future, it is also because they want to know what is the truth behind the fact. Therefore, we can know that people want to know and they are willing to find out the reality.

             In conclusion, people used to and they should carry on their lives with asking questions. Otherwise, they will be concealed by everything that which will happen in their life and they will never know the truth. 

The Dangers of Reality TV

            According to the passage "The Dangers of Reality TV", Timothy Sexton states that there are three messages which are sent out from the reality television are dangerous and harmful to us. First of all, the most important key for people to be succeed in a capitalist economy is competition. Second key to success is the image value is greater than ability. Furthermore, reality TV makes people believe education is useless for people to be succeed in their future. Timothy Sexton also points out most of the messages are unsound, that means people will receive the messages under their awareness, especially the young fans of reality TV, they cannot analysis the messages which are received. Therefore, this is the main reason why it is so dangerous to people.

          However, i do not agree that "education is completely unnecessary to fulfill the American dream" which is from the passage. It is because education is a way that can improve your knowledge, open your mind and provide a lot of useful information that you cannot learn without educated.  It is true that big business abhors competition, because competition is a main factor that make our economy become developed. In the business world, competition is an motivation for those companies to keep growing and making improvement. But, if people do not educated, how they can improve themselves and fight for the others? For instance, my father opened a hair salon and there are some problems appear when he was running his business, he tried to find the ways to solve those problems but he did not educated that much, so he cannot have enough sources to fix it. As a result, to survive in the business world, only rely on your experience is not enough, it also depends on what you had learned in your study. Therefore, education is an necessary and important tool to make your dream come true.

         Moreover, reality television always gives people hope but which is so unreal. By using the passage's example "you can just get on Fear Factor, eat bugs and walk away with a bucket of money", we can recognize that reality TV makes people think they can earn a lot of money without putting same amount of effort on it. But, how many people can really be the winner in the show and win a huge of money and become a multimillionaire? For example, one of my friends, she won ten million from the lottery, but she still study until she graduated from the college. It is because she knew that she could win was because the luck and the money will use up one day. Therefore, only education can become your property and last forever. 

         In conclusion, reality TV is perilous and people always easily be affected. Hence, people need to analysis the message before they receive it to avoid getting the incorrect message. Otherwise, they will get lose and going the wrong way in their future. Last but not least, education is a way that can fulfill your dream and achieve your goal. 
      

Truman - The Perfect World

              For me, i would not choose to live in Cristoff's world. The reason is that i cannot be a prisoner and live in a fake world. Everything in Christoff's world are not real, even the people who are living around you. For instance, the family, neighbourhoods, the people who worked with you, etc. They come to you is because of some reasons. Even the best friend that you have in your life, when you are using your true heart to be a friend with them, they are lying to you at the same time. Moreover, there is one thing that i cannot accept is whatever i do, everyone is looking at me and i do not even know. I do not have any privacy in my life. If i live in Cristoff's world, i just look like an idiot and everything i do is only a show for the people to watch. Therefore, it is really a joke and i will not choose to live in Cristoff's world.

The Allegory of the Cave & The Truman Show

             After analyzing the class readings and watching The Truman Show, they show that not only a small group of people reality depend on the media, but most of the people in the world doing the same thing today. First of all, we can know that why people reality depend on the media so much from the passages that we had read in the class. For instance, the passage "Google making us stupid", it states that Google will affect our ability of thinking because the Internet nowadays is so convenience for us to find the information. We will just believe all of the information and we will not think deeply about them. Therefore, we never know that the information that we find is really true or is just we think the information is correct by our own mind. Also, this had proved that how people reality depend on the Internet.

           Moreover, form the passage "I know the truth", it states that people always just believe what they are thinking is true and they will just ignore the fact which is shown in front of them. It also shows that human is easily to believe the information even there is no evidence to prove. For example, just like the advertising which had shown on the television, most of them will exaggerate their products to attract customers. However, most of the time the companies can be successful because people always believe what they said. One of my friends she just buy a medicine which is for losing weight, the reason for her to buy is because she saw the advertisement form the television. Before she bought the medicine, she had not do any research to prove that is it work or not. So this shows that how people rely on the advertisements. Furthermore, the film "The Truman Show" has clearly shown that people in this society is over believe what had been shown on the media. Also, this is the main reason why this show had been created. 

               Finally, the purpose of all of these is just want us to think deeply before we believe something which is the truth. In this world, most of the people only believe the realities are just what they had seen, just like Truman who lives in a perfect world which is created just for him. Therefore, we cannot just blind to believe what we had seen or listen, we need to prove that before we trust it. 

Reflection on writing skills

                From now on, i have learned a few of the writing skills : annotating, summarizing, thesis-based writing and paragraphing. First of all, the annotating skill, i learned that i need to read the passage twice, and in the second time, i need to underline the important ideas that i may want to quote later. Therefore, i do not need to read the passage again and again. It is because i already know where is the most important ideas that i needed. Second, the summarizing skill, this helped me how to write a good summary for the readers to read and make them feel that i know what is the passage talking about. Third, the thesis-based writing,this is the specific argument that the rest of my essay will support or explain. I learned that this is really important for a good essay. It is because if i have a good thesis-statement, it not only can be a guide line to guide the readers to read my essay, but also help me to write more clearly. Lastly, the paragraphing, i learned that what should be included in a paragraph to make it become a successful paragraph.

               To prove that what i have learned, you can go to my blog to have a look the entry 6 "I know the truth". Honestly, I cannot say that i did very well, but i had already tried to use the writing skills to improve my writing.

               Actually, the material that we have covered is clear, but only one thing is i am still not sure that where is my position now. I mean i do not know what is my weakness and which part i need to work on. But i believe that after you tell me what i should do to improve my writing, i will feel more confident to pass the CATW.

               The last thing i want to tell you that is i feel you are a good professor :) and i really think that you can help me to pass the CATW. I will also try to do my best in this class and work harder to pass the test. It is because to pass the test is the most important thing that i need to do right now.

I know the truth

According to the passage "I know the truth", Jeffrey Kluger states that most of the people in the world just believe in what they think even they are not real. What is that means? It means that even there is the fact which is showed in front of the people to prove that they are wrong, they will still just ignore the fact and then will still thinking themselves are right. Jeffrey Kluger also uses the study "fewer than a third of people were willing to reverse their positions, regardless of the contradictory evidence they were given" to show that how people ego are. Furthermore, he points out that everyone has freedom to choose to believe the facts and changed their mind or not. However, the most important thing that we should know is "fact is the fact", at least we need to recognize that the fact is right even we do not change our mind.

        From the passage, I agree that "we may not always agree on what those facts mean, but at a minimum we need to agree that they mean more than fantasy". It is because fact has evidence to prove that it is right. Somehow truth is just fantasy and no one can prove that it is correct or not, but fact is real and it cannot be changed. First of all, some people always do not agree what the facts mean, they just believe themselves. However, there always have evidences to prove the meaning of the fact is correct.  For instance, the history of the 19th century, Japanese government never recognizes what they did to China people, but all of the facts had been recorded into the book, such as they raped the women, they robbed their property etc. Therefore, even the government always denies the fact, everyone knows what the fact is. 

           Moreover, everyone knows that fact cannot be changed and it is realistic in the world whatever is in the past, now or in the future, they still will not change their opinions. “Some of that may be simple ego – none of us like being told we’re wrong” which is from the passage has shown that no one likes to be denied and it is true. That is the reason why people already know they are wrong but they still stay strong in their positions. For example my sister, when I told her something that which was from the fact, she always said that I was wrong and she was the one who was correct.  

        In conclusion, it is true that we cannot change people mind even what they are thinking is unreal and nobody can prove that it is true or not, but “fact is the fact”. Therefore, we still need to agree that the fact is real and it is correct even we do not change the “truth” which comes from our mind.

I know Jeffrey Kluger is right when states that "we may not always agree on what those facts mean, but a mimimum we need to agree that they mean more than fantasy" because facts have evidence to prove that they are correct, so they are realistic in the world. Somehow, truth is unreal and no one can prove that it is true or not. Therefore, we need to agree that facts are something that cannot be changed and at least we need to accept they are real.


- From thinking and discussing Significant Idea, Claim, Reasons, Thesis Statement, i learn how to use the claim to related to the passage's main idea and how to use my opinion to support the claim. Also, i know that thesis statement is impotant to an essay.

- From writing a Thesis Statement with my group, we can share the ideas that we have. I also learn that how to use the claim to support the idea.

- From writing a Thesis Statement on my own, i learn that if i need to have a good thesis statement, i must have some reasons to support my claim, Also, it is really not easy to have a good thesis statement, so i know that i still need to work on it.

- Organizing my writing around a thesis statement can make me become a better writer because this is a statement that to show how i understand the passage. Also, follow the thesis statement not only can be my guideline, but also help me to write my essay more easily.

My Place in the Cave

                According to the passage " The Allegory of the Cave", Plato states that everyone has different stages in their own life and which states are they in is depended on what is in their mind and what they have seen. Also, what they are thinking is one of the important reasons. Somehow, they may think wrongly and blindly, but do not forget the people who are around us can be a "light" to give us guidelines.  Moreover, Plato says that the postitive things in the world are always far more than the bad things, but at least you need to put your own effort to get the good one. Lastly, Plato also points out that if you want to have a postitive way in your future, do not let your eyes "full of darkness" whatever you are in your own life or in the society.

               Compare my stage in life to Socrates' description of the Cave, i think i am at the stage that which is walking out into the light. Even i am just 19 years old and my experience is absolutely not enough to help me to go through this world, i have my own plan and i know what i need to do right now clearly. Furthermore, before if i do something wrong, i will just blame on the others and never think of myself. Did i do anything wrong? But now, i will look back what i did wrong and avoid myself to make those mistakes again. Also, i will think of my future, not just only keep playing, playing and playing all the time. From now on, i know that i need to study well and graduated from the college to get a good job in my coming future.

I know the truth

            According the passage, "I know the truth", Jeffrey Kluger states that most of the people in the world just believe in what they think even it is not real. What is that means? It means that even there is the fact which is showed in front of the people to prove that they are wrong, they will still just ignore the fact and then still thinking themselves are right. However, the most important thing that we should know is "fact is the fact", at least we need to recognize that the fact is right even we do not change our thinking.

Reflecting on annotation

               First of all, i know that annotation is a really useful way to understand the reading. It helps us get the main idea of the passage more easily. Also, it helps us to think more faster about the writing, it is because we already underline what are the most important ideas from the passage.

               Second, we figure out that the main idea of the passage is we cannot just use google to help us. Actually, google is really a good way and the faster way to give us the most useful information that to help us to solve the problems. However, it is not good for us. We know that if we just keep on using google always, then we will stop using our brains and become lazy. Therefore, we need to know that google is just a way to help us to confirm the information that we think by ourself or is just a guide line to help us think more easily.

                Lastly, annotation helps me to understand the reading more easily and i do not need to review it again and again to find out the most important ideas. It saves the time. Moreover, the best thing is we can more easy to find out the main ideas of the writers by using annotation.

Hype

                Today, no matter where you are, advertisements must appear around you. According the passage "Hype" by Kalle Lasn, she demonstrates that everyone is affected by the advertisements. Even you are a teenager or an adult, advertisements are already become a thing that you must see or hear everyday. The reason is advertisements are everywhere now and show every moment. Also, Kalle Lasn said that "advertisements are the most prevalent and toxic of the mental pollutants", that means there are advantages and disadvantages come from advertisements. Therefore, we need to choose carefully by ourselves.

                The way for the advertisements are become more popular. "There is nowhere to run. No one is exempt and no one will be spared" which are from the passage is correct. Not only in television or radio which are the most common ways, but also everywhere that people will be always connected. For instance, when you are using the computer, there is a lot of advertisements on the website. Moreover, many big words and topics which are showed on the newspaper to attract your attention. Even when you are going to the restroom, you still can find some advertisements which are posted behind the door.

                However, not all the advertisements are good for us. The advertisements which are showed did not have evidence to prove that they are telling the truth or not. Most of the companies will exaggerate their products' quality to attract as more as the customers to earn more money. From the passage, " Your kids watch Pepsi and Snickers ads in the classroom", we can know that children watch television everyday no matter where they are and they will be attracted by the advertisements which are showed. Even some of the food or drink is not good for health, they will still always eat or drink them. Therefore, that is the reason that why we need to choose which advertisements are good for us, but not just blind to trust all of them.

               In conclusion, advertisements are all over the world and cannot be avoided now. No one is exempt. By business side, companies do not do anything wrong. So, the thing that we can do is to select carefully.
